Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau Solid Perfume

A modern take on a grandma-ish staple (sorry nana). The name of the scent meaning “The Shadow in the Water”. It contains 0.14oz of product and comes with a suede pouch for storage. The scent is meant to evoke a riverside garden, and has notes of blackcurrant leaf and bulgarian rose, as well as amber, musk, and myrrh. It’s very leafy/grassy once the packaging is opened up, you really can’t smell the berries until the scent has been on the skin for a while and has settled in. This isn’t a scent for everyone and you really have to have a taste for herbal scents. Some people aren’t too sure how to apply it onto the skin, so I asked the Nan and these were her instructions . . .

” You can rub your finger in it and apply it to your wrists, behind the ears and anywhere a man might take a whiff”

The packaging is pretty hefty and has a magnetic closure. This is the first solid perfume I’ve ever purchased and I think it’s a very unique scent. The longevity is more than the average liquid perfume, I might touch up once throughout the day. I like to pair this with Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay to take away a bit of the green to it. Pungent and herbal but I’m one with an odd nose, or so I’m told . . .

  1. I read more and more lately about solid perfumes, people seem to appreciate them more now than in the past…thanks for great review!
