As the days get colder and colder out come the berry neutral cheek shades into my rotation. I love a bold statement lip in the fall paired with a neutral shade on the cheeks just to maintain balance. My makeup taste has changed tremendously since last year so I now use cream blushes to mix things up a bit and I just prefer the finish they give. First up I have Le Blush Crème De Chanel in 66 Fantastic which is a fuchsia berry shade. This makes for a great base to layer powder blushes over to give it that extra pop of color. Next up is Nars Amour which is a mix of berry, peach, and pink with cool undertones. It has a matte finish and gives that perfect flushed look to the cheeks when the cold wind hits the face. My top pick is the Joues Contraste in 68 Rose Ècrin, it’s definitely on the pinker side but still very very neutral. It looks great with any type of look you’re going for which is what I love about it! Nars Sin is a true berry mauve shade with gold veining. This blush doesn’t need a highlighter at all because you’ll just ruin the effect of it. The gold shimmer isn’t chunky at all so don’t be put off by what it looks like in the pan, it’s a gorgeous shade! Last but not least is Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed which is a very unique shade and here’s why, on very pale skins it can act as a contour. It isn’t warm nor cool just smack in the middle of neutral. It has a hint of mauve to it so on darker skin tones it tends to look more as a blush. It gives you a very effortless pinch of color to the cheeks. I know there aren’t rules to makeup at certain times but I feel that these colors are more appropriate to the cooler seasons, my routine changes and so does my color palette. So I’ll be tucking away the peaches and corals for hibernation while the berries come out to play . . .
