Left: Apple Strudel / Right: Maple Blondie
I’ve mentioned plenty of times in the past that I’m not a gloss girl but as of late the make-up industry has reformulated glosses and turned them into these lip balm hybrids! I just happened to walk by the NYX display at Ulta and these appealed to me, I swatched them on the back of my hand and was sold. I brought home Apple Strudel which is a peachy cream shade and Maple Blondie which is a coral pink shade. Both are pretty similar but a noticeable difference in my eyes (they were also buy one get one half off, how can a girl say no?). They are creamy, sheer but have enough pigment that it appears on the lip, and they smell of candy! I absolutely love these butter/glosses and are available in 12 different shades. They are very comparable to my all time fav, lets give it up for Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors! Maybe the longevity is better with the Clarins LP’s but I’d say the NYX Butter Gloss is pretty close. Only issue with these is that if you apply too much you’ll begin to look like a grease lipped porn star so my advice is apply a sheer layer and pat it into the lips (a technique I use everyday with all my lip products) for a more natural effect. You gotta try em for $5 bucks a pop, not too shabby if I do say so myself . . .
