Slappin Da Base!

basecoats

You all remember that scene in “I Love You, Man” with Paul Rudd right? So today we’ll be slappin da BASE on our nails and talking about my top base coats of the moment.

  1. OPI Nail Envy (original) – This strengthened my nails and helped them grow tremendously. I’ve heard complaints that this does make the nails peel and I can’t really say that was a problem for me. I have peely nails as it is so this didn’t alter nor help that issue. I just paint my nails too much and don’t let them breathe tisk tisk!
  2. OPI Nail Envy (sensitive & peeling) – I found this at my local Marshall’s and it was only $8 considering the ridiculous price tag of $18. It didn’t help my peeling issues but it worked the same as the original formula. I used it for about 2 months with no results (sad face).
  3. Revlon Long-wear Base Coat – This stuff is the ish! It prevents staining, makes your polish last longer and I feel it protects my nails as well. I love that the brush is nice and wide so that I can get a smooth application and it dries almost instantly!
  4. CND Stickey Base Coat – This is fairly new to the band and its on my nails as we speak, I have to say it’s very similar to the Revlon one. Its Toluene and DBP free so no nasties which is a plus for me! I’m in love all over again!

This is how I jam with my base coats and I can’t stress how important this step is to your manicure! It will extend the life of your manicure, gives your polish an even surface to adhere to, and it will prevent your nails from staining.

  1. I’m incredibly lazy when it comes to manicures. I’m the type of gal who’ll just paint a colour on and go. But the Revlon Long Wear Basecoat sounds great. I’ll have to pick it up one of these days. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • Seche Vite is the best top coat I’ve ever used dries in a matter of seconds and is super shiny!!!
