Welcome to my first installment of the “approved” series by people I look up to in the beauty world. I’m starting off with Lisa Eldridge, celebrity makeup artist and perhaps my favorite artist of all time. She’s done a tone of celebrities such as Jessica Biel, Katy Perry, Cheryl Kohl (thought it was pretty funny that I spelled her last name Kohl as in eye pencil rather than Cole), Emma Watson and the list goes on! She’s magnificent at her trade and really knows her stuff. I went through my makeup looking for products I’ve purchased because she has recommended them or has used them time and time again. Here we go in no particular order. . .
Starting off with base she says she’s kept M.A.C Face and Body in her kit for about 20 years! She uses it for both face and the body depending on the type of shoot, she also says its best applied with fingers and you must really work it into the skin. It contains a film former that is meant to have a very strong staining power, water rolls right off it due to it being water-resistant as well. Next base is YSL’s Touche Eclat Foundation, she’s a big fan of the formula and the skin like finish. She’s not fond of the Touche Eclat Illuminating Pen because she finds it to be too illuminating on the skin. One thing she says to watch out for is the foundation contains SPF so it might not be camera friendly. I’ve noticed that she uses Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre which is their loose powder on a lot of shoots and events. It’s a lovely powder and perfect to dust over the T-zone to set foundation. She uses the Suqqu Cheek Brush to apply. I know she is a big fan of the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and the Clinique Airbrush Concealers which I’ve added to my list! Eyelash Curlers are a must have for her (even personally) and she keeps the infamous Shu Uemura’s and Kevyn Aucion in her kit which I have yet to try (sad face). I use my Chanel eyelash curlers every single day and they’d probably be my deserted island pick too! She uses the M.A.C 217 for concealer and eyeshadow all the time including the Paula Dorf Crease Brush which I will own in this lifetime or the next.
Moving on to M.A.C lipsticks she said her staples are Ruby Woo, Lady Danger and Rebel. Her must have lip liner is one she created herself and its Boots No 7 in 20 Nude. She also keeps Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors in her kit as well which are my favorite lipgloss/balm of all time. She had Bobbi Browns Pot Rouge in Powdery Pink in her makeup bag and explained the versatility of it and I had to run out and get it of course. She’s a big fan of Chanel blushes and has stated Rose Ecrin to be one of her favorites, she also likes the tweed blushes. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector is one of her most used products, she says she’s used it on every celebrity she’s done since it was released. I have a sample of the shade pearl and it looks so natural on the skin and probably one of the best liquid highlighters I’ve tried and will be purchasing the full size soon! She mentions she keeps a bag of the Bobbi Brown Gel Liners because they do such a variety of different shades and last a long time. She’s also approves of the M.A.C Paint Pots using Blackground as a base to create smokey eyes. M.A.C Teddy Eye Kohl is another staple she keeps in her kit, the perfect bronze pencil and a personal favorite of mine. These are just a few of the many items she has in her kit and I adore each and every one of these products. Every time she uploads a new video on YouTube I have a notepad and pen in hand, ready to make my pockets weep but a very happy me!
Stay tuned for next weeks approved person, any guesses on who it could be!
